Senator Rockefeller Joins WVVC Planning
Sister organization to the WVEF -- the West Virginia Venture Connection (WVVC) -- and the Discover the REAL West Virginia Foundation were pleased to host Senator Rockefeller and a Roundtable of 28 Statewide business, education and nonprofit leaders to discuss how to increase Venture Capital investment in West Virginia. The premise for this half-day Roundtable was the creation of a Cardinal Company -- examining what it will it take for West Virginia to boast the funding, startup, rapid expansion and ongoing operations of a nationally prominent venture transforming West Virginia's position in the “innovation economy.”
 
Hale Named as Executive Director
The West Virginia Venture Connection (WVVC) and its sister organization West Virginia Entrepreneurs Forum (WVEF) announced appointment of John S. Hale as Executive Director.  "John brings decades of private and public sector experience to the WVVC," said Chairman Eric Lewis, "and we look forward to important contributions to our State's venture development."  Hale has pioneered online applications in the telecommunications and healthcare industries, as well as directed national telecommunications campaigns for the Executive Office of the President.  Currently, he conducts a strategic communications consulting practice.
 
WVEF to Convene in Morgantown

The West Virginia Entrepreneurs Forum (WVEF) -- sister organization of the West Virginia Venture Connection (WVVC) -- will launch "Version 2.0" on May 26th from 6-9pm at the Radisson in Morgantown.  Many founders of WVEF will attend as the Forum continues the tradition of informative networking sessions among entrepreneurs, capital providers and service providers.  Walk-ins are welcome, but RSVP's are appreciated.  Please RSVP to: info@wvef.org.  There is no charge to attend.

 
MIT President Keynotes WV Venture Connection
Charleston, WV, May 25,2004 -- Dr. Charles Vest, Morgantown native and West Virginia University graduate, addressed a distinguished audience at The Clay Center in Charleston to mark the Inaugural Celebration of the West Virginia Venture Connection.  Vest, who is President of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), spoke of how to encourage entrepreneurism.
